Dedicated customer cages are ideal for organisations with a corporate policy that mandates the need for a caged environment. Access to and within SunGard's data centres is already highly secure and auditable, but where a corporate security policy demands a caged environment, we can provide one.
Service Overview
SunGard Secure Hosting Dedicated Customer Cage’s are designed and provided to house a number of racks or to host a number of freestanding systems on standard computer room tiles. The cages allow reasonable equipment service clearance, both front and rear, to allow technicians to perform maintenance on the systems.
Cages are installed under the supervision of SunGard’s Infrastructure Division and are uniform in specification & anonymity throughout the data centre. Each cage has its own set of double doors to allow large equipment access. These doors are secured using the data centres proximity card security system.

- Each footprint includes 2KVA of Power & Cooling per annum

2: Bespoke Cage
Policy & Restrictions
- Power and Network cabling will always be provided by SunGard, to ensure that the data centre remains at the same consistently high standard
- Power consumption above contracted levels charged monthly at standard rate
- Maximum allowed concentrated load is 12kN/m² Ground floor and 6kN/m² for the
- First Floor. For heavy equipment (like large disk arrays) SunGard will deploy spreader plates to evenly distribute the weight across the floor
- In the absence of customer specified power or cabling requirements, the standard design specification restriction shall be for 1000Watts per square meter
- SunGard will retain emergency access rights to enter the cage for fire prevention and emergency environmental maintenance. Customers may install their own intrusion detection system to the doors of the cage to audit access
- Due to Health & Safety regulations, only SunGard is allowed to lift floor tiles (to e.g. install cabling)
- Single Cabinet or Footprint not allowed to consume above 5 KVA per annum
